“INTERNAL OPERATION GUIDE”
FOR THE HISTORICAL PUBLIC LIBRARY OF ANDRITSAINA
The purpose of the Public Historical Library of Andritsaina is to spread knowledge, education and culture without any political, religious, racial and other discriminations, and make it possible to access all kinds of information. It also helps to create and enhance readability, provide experiences for personal creative improvement, develop imagination and creativity, promote awareness on issues of cultural heritage, scientific achievements and innovations, ensuring citizens’ access to any information related to the local or global community.
The Public Historical Library of Andritsaina partly operates as a lending library for the following reasons:
- It contains valuable and rare collections of KONSTANTINOS -AGATHOFRONAS NIKOLOPOULOS and EVAGGELOS KALLIANIOTIS
- It contains rare, precious and unique versions and other informational material, which cannot be lent in accordance with the Governmental Gazette 709/Β/13-7-1998, 1328/Β/12-10-2001, 378/Β/6-4-2002
Every citizen has the right to access the Library.
Opening hours:
Tuesday through Saturday except Sunday, Monday and holidays.
From 7.00am to 3.00pm For the public: From 8.00am to 2.00pm
RESEARCH
Article 1
Old and rare versions and manuscripts belonging to the collections above, can be studied – researched in the study room upon permission and under the supervision of the Library staff, after the visitor has submitted an application to the competent official including the following information:
- Police ID Card
- Permanent residence address, phone – FAX
After filling in the data, the employee of the Library signs the respective form and puts a date on it.
Article 2
More particularly, in respect with the “NIKOLOPOULOS” and “KALLIANIOTIS” collections, the researcher may consult the relevant lists of A. Tselalis and National Research Foundation.
Article 3
The researcher may in no case have direct access to the repositories of the books, and shall receive the relevant book for study by the competent official of the Library.
Article 4
Right before delivery of the book to the reader, the official must check its status (wear, number of pages, tables, maps, engravings), and upon handover, the official must assure that the book is complete.
Article 5
You may not take photos and copies of rare books.
LENDING
Article 1
Every visitor has the right to borrow, provided they present their identification card or passport.
These data are submitted in a special file of the Library.
Article 2
The number of books lent to a reader shall be no more than 5 books within one (1) month.
Article 3
Luxury editions, encyclopaedias, dictionaries, magazines, newspapers and books published before 1950 may not be borrowed. These may only be used in the Library.
Article 4
Making photocopies is generally accepted except in cases of rare and precious books.
Photocopying entire books is not permitted (Copyright law).
Article 5
Study room is available to the public and visitors for use of the Library material.
VISITORS
Article 1
Visitors may not enter with backpacks and bags. These are placed under special security conditions at the entrance of the Library.
Article 2
No smoking is allowed in the Library.
Article 3
Large groups of visitors enter the Library in smaller groups under the supervision of the Library staff.
DONATIONS
Large donations consisting of many volumes are accepted after approval of the Supervisory Council of the Library.
BOOK WITHDRAWAL – DESTRUCTION
Books not used for some time are withdrawn by decision of the Supervisory Council of the Library.
Books or materials that have suffered major damage are destroyed after a destruction Protocol is drafted by the Supervisory Council of the Library.
